Day 6 - Back to Fresno

As we were coming out of Sequoia it dawned on us that we had forgot a blanket at the hotel in Fresno. Luckily we were heading back to the freeway and would be entering only 35 miles south of Fresno. So, we decided to shoot back to the hotel which only adds an hour. We now have the blanket in our possession.

We are now heading to our nest fuel stop in Bakersfield. We should be in San Diego around 9, that is of course if we can avoid rush hour in L.A.

Day 5 - Night Cap

We have made it to our scheduled location in Fresno, California, arriving at 10:03PM PST. The day in Yosemite was simply awesome, I wish we had more time. The low quality photos we take with our phones do the landscape no justice. We will be sure to share all of the high quality photos when we find a stable internet platform to do so, most likely this come weekend. We will also be updating our Google map links.

We think our travels tomorrow will bring us into non-cell-service areas (Sequoia National Park) much like today (Yosemite) and Tuesday (Yellowstone.) So, you can expect to see a flood of updates tomorrow evening when we do come back into service. FYI, we reach our destination in San Diego tomorrow night!

Day 4 - Into Nevada

We are officially in Nevada which means we lose another hour as we enter the Pacific Time Zone. 433 miles remaining today.
In the mean time, our fuel gauge has been really screwy. It has been jumping between full and half full, but we know we have less than a third of a tank. Last night the fuel light came on in the middle of the Grand Tetons as we were at a dead stop in road construction 5 miles past the last fuel stop for miles. We looked at each other in panic wondering why our gauge was reading half a tank moments earlier and is now in the red. Furthermore, we had decided that we were getting really good gas mileage due to elevations and the large amounts of coasting and figured we would have no problem getting to Jackson, our next fuel stop. It was rather uneventful, seeing as we turned around and fueled up.

Day 4 - Fire In The Ditch

As we approached the burn site it looked to be some sort of controlled burn in the ditch. However, as we drove the length of the burned section (a mile or so) we came upon the "firestarter", a minivan completely charred to its very rims. We were unable to get a picture of the van due to its hidden position behind a state vehicle. This may be the most exciting thing we see today.

Day 4 - Unexpected Stop

We came upon a trooper directing traffic into a single lane abruptly, and eventually to a complete stop. We see smoke, a crop duster circling, and anews helicopter. Looks like traffic is moving again.
